NEPENTHES IS SHY. and why?

Do you remember the insectivorous plants that look like the main product of all sex shops in the world, that is, phalluses?

Scientists have described a new species of penisoid insectivorous plants, called Nepenthes pudica, that is, Nepenthes shy. This miracle of nature grows in North Kalimantan (Indonesia).

This handsome man, symbolizing love, reproduction and fertility with his appearance, is called shy, apparently for a reason.

His dignity grows underground, and does not shine with a "penis" to everyone who is not lazy. In fact, you can even joke that the plant is shy about its wealth. Scientists probably did so, calling this species such a peculiar name.

The researchers described that the plant has underground shoots that do not contain chlorophyll, growing in depth and width. They have well-developed ventricular lower pitchers, which are formed on shoots where there is loose soil or there are soil cavities nearby, for example, passages laid by small animals.
Why do pitchers grow inside the soil?
Ants and other invertebrates living in the litter and soil make up the bulk of the diet of this plant.

But how does the nepenthes pitcher grow in the soil at all?

Since pitchers are formed underground and must repel soil and other debris as they grow, the penis-shaped device for catching ants in nepenthes shashful looks thicker, more powerful, stronger than in other pitcher plants.

The discovery of this nepenthes highlights the natural richness of tropical forests and the need to preserve this important ecosystem with its vast and still unexplored biodiversity.
This method of hunting is observed in the genera Genlisea Benth.& Hook.f., Philcoxia P.Taylor & VCSouza and Utricularia L., but their traps are tiny compared to those of nepenthes, therefore they can catch only microscopic or very small prey, while nepenthes is strong and able to lure heaps of various crawling into their pitchers food.
