What data should not be stored on your phone?
Good day, dear subscribers and guests of the site!
In my publication I want to talk about what data in the phone is fraught with consequences. There are some data that is best not to keep in your cell phone, otherwise it may be regarded as an invasion of privacy or even worse as identity theft. Therefore, think a few times if you would rather not keep the following information in your phone.
Password
Of course, passwords ensure the security of personal data. As a rule, you should of course use a combination of more secure characters and, accordingly, do not use the same password more than once. Because of this, when you use several passwords, it may be difficult to remember them without writing them down.
Do not store your passwords on your phone as notes. In addition, passwords stored in your phone may also accidentally end up in the cloud, thereby putting your accounts at risk.
The best way to store multiple passwords would be to use one of the following software: Keeper, Dashlane or LastPass. And then all the passwords will be accessible thanks to one strong password.
Fingerprint
A fingerprint to open a device or an app may not provide 100% security for your phone. I'll explain why. There is no way to know where the owner of your phone might be or what to expect. There are several ways in which you can simply be forced to open your mobile device using your fingerprint. For example, it can be either a criminal using physical force, or a person who can fraudulently, not disregarding physical force, make you open your mobile device.
In this case it will take more time to enter the password and it will be reliable, which means that it can protect your phone from unauthorized access. In addition, there is the possibility that the fingerprint may be stolen.
Face Recognition
Surely many people think that face recognition on your phone is more secure than a fingerprint or password. But what I want to say here is that it's not any safer.
Personal photos and videos
You may be trying to post photos, videos on social media with a restriction to other people's eyes. But your phone may contain your personal photos that you would not want to advertise. It's safest to store such photos and videos on your personal computer under a password to open, and only you have access to it.
Personal information used on a work cell phone
On a work phone that belongs to your employer, it's not a good idea to post data that only concerns you. If you get fired or move to a new job with the same employer, or for some other reason you have to give up your work phone which also contains your personal data.
Bank account on the Internet
It's not safe to carry a bank account in your phone. I certainly agree that online banking is a convenience, but by doing any banking and at any time, you risk paying with privacy, and if you lose your phone, you will lose control of your banking transactions.
In order to avoid any loss of banking transactions, it is best to conduct banking transactions on a personal computer. But if you do happen to need to take your online banking with you, you need to take care of the security of your password to log in to the application.
Home or work address information
When using a navigator that has a saved home or work address, be aware that the information could end up in the hands of fraudsters. If you need exactly to save addresses, so that they are at hand, so that you do not constantly enter them, it is necessary to make the search for a work or home address more difficult. To do this, you can give them a "fake" code word like "fitness" as an identifier.
Thank you for reading my publication. I hope my article was useful to you! Take care of your data, don't let criminals get hold of it.
