Mother and baby were pulled alive from the rubble in Turkey a day later
In the Turkish region of Hatay, which suffered from a powerful earthquake on February 6, rescuers managed to pull a mother and baby out of the rubble alive after more than a day. On Tuesday, February 7, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the local channel TRT.
As specified, a 30-year-old woman, along with her 6-month-old daughter, was under the rubble after the collapse of a building in the Odabashi district in Hatay. In total, they spent about 29 hours there.
As a result, rescuers managed to extract the victims from the wreckage. A woman and a child were hospitalized at a local hospital. Details about their condition are not given.
Earlier, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said that as a result of search and rescue operations after the earthquake, more than eight thousand people were rescued in various regions.
On the morning of February 6, the strongest earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 occurred in Turkey since 1939. A few hours later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 was recorded in the central part of the country. According to the latest data, 3381 people died as a result, another 20,424 people received various injuries.
