About Vladimir Putin's article on the pages
influential American newspaper The New York Times
The White House administration, commenting on Putin's article, noted that the Russian president must implement the plan he proposed to disarm the Syrian regime. “He put forward a proposal, and now this is his area of responsibility.
Readers paid tribute to Putin's position, calling his words the voice of reason
I was scared when George Bush attacked Iraq. America has been too aggressive in the recent past. We must act together with all members of the UN, and not alone,” writes Valerie Austin from Texas in the comments to the article.
“I admire Vladimir Putin,” echoes Seattle-based Cyndi.
“Putin is brilliant. No matter what one may think of it. I'm impressed,” writes user detroit87 from Michigan.
“Thank you, President Putin, for the voice of common sense and diplomacy at a critical moment in history,” writes Gilda Vizzini from Italy.
“Putin is a shrewd statesman, his analysis of the situation in Syria is correct. Any armed strike by Western forces against an Arab state will only cause more problems and solve nothing,” agrees Florida user ames.

Ordinary Americans about Vladimir Putin's article in the New York Times
Putin's article has become one of the main topics in the American blogosphere, causing a storm of emotions among ordinary American Internet users. Of course, on the NY Times website, it became the most read and distributed material in the issue.
However, I was interested to know what exactly the Americans think about Putin's article. In the comments on the NY Times website, opinions are very different, but regulars of the Matryoshka tavern from Brighton Beach, who sincerely hate everything connected with the corrupt dictatorial communist Putin's regime, as well as our smaller brothers who do not burn with special love for Russia, demonstrate phenomenal activity there. from some Baltic and Eastern European countries. A similar situation is in the comments on Reddit, but there are noticeably more positive responses.
So how do you get the opinion of ordinary Americans who do not participate in daily troll polls .. I can say with confidence that the vast majority (80-90%) of American users support the position of Russia and Vladimir Putin regarding the US involvement in the Syrian conflict.
I have been observing the attitude towards Russia in the US for a long time now, and I can say that this is perhaps Russia's biggest international success in terms of improving its image among Americans.
In order not to be unfounded, I quote some of the comments I met, especially for the incredulous - with a link to the original post. I translated them into Russian myself together with @AndreyZalgo (friend him), so I apologize in advance for possible minor inaccuracies, they do not change the meaning.

"Putin urges the United States not to launch a military strike on Syria, arguing that "military intervention in the internal conflicts of other states is becoming commonplace for the United States." It's sad, but it's completely true."

"It's funny that Putin is much more eager for peace talks than the so-called leaders of the free world. Does anyone remember the "left's" claims to "cowboy diplomacy"?

"That's how Putin ended the Obama war. Putin, who is a former KGB officer, stopped a Nobel Peace Prize winner from starting a war that would have killed thousands. Funny story, isn't it."
