James Rodriguez has returned to Spanish football after a fine performance at the Copa America. The Colombian playmaker has joined La Liga side Rayo Vallecano on a free transfer. As a result, the 33-year-old star will be seen at the club in the Spanish capital Madrid.
Before that, he played for Real Madrid from 2014 to 2020. The star midfielder played 125 matches for Real Madrid. From 2017 to 2019, he played on loan at Bayern Munich. After leaving Real, he played for English club Everton, Greek club Olympiacos and finally Brazilian club Sao Paulo.
Rodriguez, who has 106 caps for his country, was superb at the Copa America, which ended last month. He scored a goal and made six assists as his team reached the final. He also won the tournament's best player award. But they lost 1-0 to Argentina in the final.
With their first two La Liga games under their belt, Vaillecano are in eighth place with four points from one win and one draw. Their next league game is against Barcelona on Tuesday.
