Samsung unveils Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone - 200 MP camera, Qualcomm chip and astrophotography mode

On February 1, 2023, Samsung held a presentation of Galaxy Unpacked 2023, where, among other things, it introduced smartphones from the Galaxy S23 line. Tell the main thing about them.

Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung equipped the flagship smartphone from the Galaxy S23 line with a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200x1800 pixels and a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. The maximum brightness of the screen is 1750 nits, support for HDR10 + is announced.

The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with a maximum clock speed of 3.36 GHz. Samsung has abandoned the use of its own Exynos chips in all models from the flagship line.

The resolution of the main ISOCELL HP2 camera is 200 megapixels. Samsung assured that it allows you to take the most detailed photos among all the company's smartphones.

The main camera is able to combine neighboring pixels, thereby obtaining images with a resolution of 50 and 12 megapixels, but with increased detail when shooting in low light conditions.

S23 Ultra received a special mode for shooting the night sky with a long exposure.

The battery capacity of S23 Ultra is 5000 mAh. Declared support for fast charging power of 45 watts. It allows you to charge your smartphone battery by 65% ​​in 30 minutes.

The built-in storage of the smartphone is 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB depending on the model. The amount of RAM standard LPDDR5X is 8 or 12 GB.

The S23 Ultra starts at $1,199 in the US. Sales will begin on February 17, 2023.

Galaxy S23 and S23+

The Galaxy S23 has a 6.1-inch AMOLED display, while the S23+ has a 6.6-inch one. The screens differ only in diagonal, but are otherwise identical: a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, support for HDR10 + and a brightness of up to 1750 nits. For comparison, previous models only had brightness up to 1300 nits.

Both smartphones are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, just like the S23 Ultra. Samsung reported that the chip is overclocked from the factory - its clock speed is 3.36 GHz instead of the standard 3.2 GHz.

The amount of RAM smartphones is 8 GB standard LPDDR5X. The Galaxy S23 has 128GB, 256GB or 512GB built-in storage capacity depending on the model, while the S23+ only has two configurations - 256GB or 512GB.

Samsung equipped both smartphones with three rear cameras: the main one with a resolution of 50 megapixels and optical stabilization, wide-angle at 12 megapixels and telephoto at 10 megapixels.

The battery capacity of the S23 is 3900 mAh and the S23+ is 4700 mAh. The "younger" model supports fast charging with a power of 25 W, and the "older" one with a power of 45 W.

The S23 will go on sale starting at $799, while the S23+ will start at $999. Sales of both devices will begin on February 17, 2023.
